The nose is big and malty with notes of dried apricots, cocoa and some burned almonds. A bit sweeping in character but very good. A very traditional english ale. Some of that typical notes of urinal - doesn´t sound that nice but in this context is really is...
The taste is big and broad with lots of dried fruits, some chocolate, old biscuits and wool. The carbon dioxide is rather low but it doesn´t bother me with this kind of traditional bitter.
90p (tasted from cask - 2010/11)
